Our pop up sponges are made of cellulose that is FSC Certified and 100% compostable! Plastic kitchen sponges are exposed to hundreds of different types of bacteria and when
Simply soak the sponge in water and wait for it to expand. Then use it just like any normal sponge. How you pop it up is all fun and up to you!

If it ever starts to smell, you can boil the sponge in water for a few minutes and air dry it. This sanitizes and disinfects the sponge, something that can't be done with traditional plastic sponges.
Depending on use and care, our pop up sponges can last as much as 3-6 months! Especially when you sanitize it by boiling it in water every few weeks. You can also throw it on the top rack of your dishwasher or even your washing machine.
When looking for causes, we look for those that align with what value to support and the work they do. What attracted us the most was not just their emphasis on saving our wildlife from extinction, but their methods and their mission to educate as well. GCF states that "education is the key to environmental protection" and we couldn't agree more! Read more about them and what they do.
Poaching is where wildlife and animals are illegally captured and trafficked, usually for land use rights or for what they find to be valuable.

We asked the Founder and President of GCF Mike Veale to explain how they fight against poaching:

"GCF works on the ground in up to 18 countries a year in Africa and Asia. We work hand-in-hand with rangers, communities, non-profits, government officials, wildlife veterinarians, and researchers to tackle multiple areas of need from the ground. We operate with 5 main pillars of conservation, each a life force of its own with multiple avenues.

Our core conservation pillars include - Anti-Poaching, Counter Wildlife Trafficking, Community Based Conservation Efforts, Education and Awareness, and True Conservation (Research, Wildlife Rehabilitation, Wildlife Veterinary). Each avenue tackles true issues where people and wildlife meet to make the strongest impact."

Thanks to these vetted efforts, we can thank GCF for keeping so much of our wildlife safe and for bringing much-needed awareness and education!
"As a 501c3 non-profit almost all of our funding comes from donors, grants, and business partnerships. Funding keeps our programs, projects, and mission running. With the added comfort of consistent donations we are able to scale up and expand our current operations.

Currently, our biggest goal is to help multiple biodiverse reserves recover wildlife protection and conservation operations. This includes sponsoring ranger salaries, advanced ranger training programs, and equipment for the wildlife protection and conservation staff..." – Mike Veale, Founder and President

These donations are important for them to keep doing the amazing and important work they do and why we want to get these proceeds to them!

Meet GCF'S Working Dogs

ANTI-POACHING K9S

GCF's Belgian Malinois dogs are a man and wildlife's best friend – with their agility, intelligence, and hunting instincts they have been helpful partners to anti-poaching units across Africa. On the field, these dogs are great at tracking and apprehending poachers – specifically sniffing out pangolin scales, rhino horn, and ivory.

Since 2015, GCF has supported and sponsored K9 anti-poaching units. Prior to receiving a trained K9, they ensure that the ranger unit is certified and trained. They must also have a stable reserve management infrastructure that ensures they will be taken good care of!

These hardworking dogs and their relationships with animals are one of many things that caught our eyes (and our hearts) for the organization. Read more about them!

Meet the Founder & President of GCF

Mike Veale

In 2014, after years of watching the wild populations of animals under his care rapidly dwindle, Mike decided to take action. His lengthy wildlife care career, combined with his experience in conservation, working as a ranger in California, and active, combat-sport-heavy lifestyle, gave Mike the unique experience needed to fight on the front line of conservation.

WHY WE CHOSE THESE ANIMALS

Protection of Animals by GCF

These are some of the many animals that the Global Conservation Force strives to protect. With the help our community, we create these 3 sponges to support the cause.

Panda Protection

LOSS OF HABITAT & POACHING

Pandas strongly rely on bamboo as a food source and as the human population expands, they take over their habitats. Causing Pandas to lose both their homes and their food as well.

With how slow and difficult it is to grow their population, they face a lot of dangers of becoming extinct.

Giraffe Protection

Trend of declining population

Loss of habitat and poaching are just some of the main causes that has been causing a decline in the giraffe population. But they also are facing challenges from civil unrest, and human encroachment on their habitat.

If this declining population trend continues, giraffes may be noted as a high-category threat for extinction.

Elephant Protection

At high risk for poaching

One of the most notable features of an elephant is its tusks. Despite international bans on ivory trade, poachers continue to kill elephants for their ivory, which is in high demand in many countries for its use in jewelry, carvings, and other decorative items.

This has made these tusks highly sought after by poachers because of the sentiment behind them.
